Creating a unique room with bespoke furniture
Creating a unique, beautiful bedroom can take a lot of work and time, but the end result is certainly worth waiting for.
The first thing to consider when designing your dream bedroom is the theme. If there is an en-suite or even a dressing room attached to your bedroom, then you may want to think about having a similar theme in these rooms so that the overall look is uniform and thoroughly consistent. Balancing the colour schemes, tones, furniture and flooring in the rooms will create a sense of harmony, making your time spent there more enjoyable.
This does not mean that the en-suite or the dressing room needs to be identical in terms of its design, but staying within the same colour palette, or adding a similar piece of bespoke furniture, will ensure that the aesthetics of the adjoining rooms are balanced and look more connected to one another.
Next, think about incorporating unique and striking pieces of bespoke furniture into the room. This might be a beautiful chest of drawers, a walk in wardrobe or a bedside table; whatever you decide on, make sure that you work closely with the designer as the piece is being made, as this will ensure that the final product is something that truly reflects your personal tastes. Handcrafted furniture does take time to be constructed, but it is a fantastic way to bring a plain and rather dull bedroom to life. One or two beautiful pieces of handmade furniture will go a long way in making your room more unique.
If inspiration for your bespoke furniture and the colour schemes of your room is lacking, then have a look at some interior decorating magazines and perhaps speak to the bespoke furniture specialist. This will give you an idea of the options available and what size, shape and colour of furniture will best suit your particular room.
One of the latest things in the world of interior decorating is decor software, which allows you to see colour changes in your room without having to paint a wall. Simply upload a photo of your room onto your computer and use the software to make changes to the image. This will give you a much better idea of which themes and furniture will work in the room. This type of software is brilliant for the indecisive, budget conscious decorator, as it allows you to visualise what colours will look like on the walls of the room without having to go out and commit to buying any new paint until you have made the final decision.
There are plenty of other places to draw inspiration from; visiting show homes, for instance. The thing to remember is that even if the overall look of a room doesn't appeal to you, there may still be elements of the space which suit your individual tastes; maybe the shape of a chair, or the upholstery used on it. Take the time to experiment and consider and you will end up with a room that you love.
